The Western Australian Government has committed $55 million under the Made in WA Plan to support an anchor tenant to develop an advanced manufacturing facility at East Picton that will support the State’s energy transition and economic diversification.

The State is seeking proposals from industry to elect to become the anchor tenant of the Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (AMTECH). The successful respondent will establish and operate an advanced manufacturing facility that strengthens local industry capability, supports regional development, and delivers long-term economic benefits for Western Australia.

The selected anchor tenant will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the AMTECH precinct and fostering a vibrant advanced manufacturing ecosystem in the region.

The facility is expected to strengthen local manufacturing capability, increase regional participation in clean energy projects, and create new employment opportunities.

Manufacturing is a cornerstone of the South West economy, contributing approximately $9.9 billion to State output in 2025 and supporting more than nine per cent of regional employment.

The AMTECH anchor tenancy selection process is coordinated by the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification with construction overseen by DevelopmentWA.

The RFP closes 5pm AWST, 30 September 2026.
