The Masterplan for Bicentennial Square presents multiple potential opportunities with spaces for commercial/recreation, heritage and accessible transportation as well as community amenity, residential opportunities and event spaces.

Located approximately two hours drive south of Perth, Bunbury is Western Australia’s second City and a key service centre for the South West region. Bunbury’s strategic location provides easy access to surrounding towns including Dalyellup, Australind, and Eaton and tourism destinations such as Busselton and Margaret River, serviced by Busselton Margaret River Airport featuring direct flights from Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

The Bunbury CBD is a vibrant centre for commerce, retail, entertainment and tourism. Framed by natural attractions including Koombana Bay and Leschenault Inlet, the City offers a unique blend of coastal lifestyle and urban vitality. Bicentennial Square will be transformed into Bunbury's premier public waterfront destination, seamlessly connecting the CBD with the inlet. Designed as an inclusive and adaptable space, it will support events year-round, prioritising accessibility, safety and comfort. The Precinct will celebrate Bunbury’s heritage, creating a welcoming and dynamic place for all ages and abilities.

Bunbury’s Bicentennial Square is expected to deliver significant city centre renewal and improved public realm outcomes. Key results include increased activation of underutilised land, improved pedestrian connectivity, and enhanced use of public spaces for events and recreation.

The integration of mixed-use development opportunities, including commercial, hospitality, residential, and adaptive reuse of heritage buildings, will support a more diverse and active city centre environment. The project is also expected to strengthen community connection to the waterfront, increase visitation, and support broader economic activity in the city centre. Overall, the impact will be a more lively, inclusive, and functional civic precinct that better reflects community needs and supports long-term urban revitalisation goals for Bunbury.
